Le Verdon sur Mer Cruise
The Gateway to Bordeaux
On the northernmost tip of the Médoc peninsula, in the Aquitaine region, rises the small village of Le Verdon-sur-Mer, which as the name recalls, is on the sea, but more precisely on the Atlantic.
Small roads, characteristic French houses, small restaurants whose intoxicating smells tempt you to try their cuisine, boundless beaches where the impetuous waves of the ocean meet the land: this fascinating town is the destination of an MSC Cruise. A stroll to discover what this area has to offer is a pleasant way to start an MSC excursion headed for Bordeaux.
This city has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2007, it is the capital of the Gironde department and is famous all over the world for its renowned wine. After an extensive renovation of its historic buildings and the construction of contemporary architecture, Bordeaux is a prime example of the fascinating mix of the past, present and future: this excursion is more than just highly recommended.
It is impossible not to love this city: a boat trip on the river Garonne, which flows through the city, a glimpse of Place de la Bourse, the square built in the XVIII century, with its Miroir d’eau (Water Mirror), a spectacular endeavour which alternates the "mirror of water" with jets of steam, and a glance at the City of Wine, which for the French, is considered and with reason, a cultural heritage. You cannot miss the Public Garden, with blooming flowers and plants, the imposing gothic Pey Berland tower, the Saint Pierre district in the ancient medieval part of the city; a labyrinth of lively narrow streets whose names recall the crafts and trades of the time.
