If you are looking for elegance and culture, the ideal destination is Trieste. An MSC Mediterranean Cruises will take you to the old cafés where you can relive the same atmosphere that inspired many writers, among the Art Nouveau and Neoclassical palaces, or along the Grand Canal.

MSC Cruises excursions offer plenty of exciting things to see including:

• Venice City Tour
• Castello Miramare
• Ljubljana
• Piazza Unità d'Italia

Take a walk in the picturesque streets of Venice. This UNESCO World Heritage Site overflows with beauty – from the gondola-lined canals and ancient marble palaces to historical architectural feats like St. Mark’s Basilica and the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. Visiting Venice is like being in a fabled land, a scintillating mix of culture, history, and water.

Visit enchanting Castello Miramare (Miramare Castle) on an MSC Cruises excursion — a building with a fairy-tale presence. Built on a karstic rocky promontory in 1856, this neo-Gothic beauty was the former residence of Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlota of Mexico. Offering exceptional views over the ocean, every room is a treasure chest filled with works of art, perfectly preserved furnishings, and ornate decorative features. Admire the extensive cliff and seashore park, filled with an abundance of botanical species.

Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is located 2 hours east from the Port of Trieste. The city was built on the confluence of three rivers with its soul in the Baroque Old City at the foot of Castle Hill and in its art Nouveau mansions. On an MSC Excursions, enjoy a walking tour of the old town for an in-depth experience of the city. Ljubljana offers Baroque architecture such as the Baroque Cathedral with a green dome and twin towers. The old town area, which has the densest concentration of sights as well as cafés markets and bars in town

Piazza Unità d’Italia is at the heart of Trieste and showcases a rich heritage and deep connection to the sea. This MSC Cruises excursion takes you on a tour of the city’s most impressive squares where you’ll glimpse a vast array of dazzling architecture. See Piazza Trauner and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, built during the 17th-century. Then, discover the ancient Roman Theatre and the impressive Canal Grande, with its lovely boats and James Joyce statue. Located between the old medieval borough and the grand 19th-century avenues, with one side facing the sea, Piazza Unità d’Italia merges all the elements that make Trieste unique.
